Looking through the kaleidoscope

Just got the kaleidoscope necklaces up on Etsy. I just love these little necklaces. They are so fun to create. Pure play with color, what could be more fun. I could spend hours mixing and matching color combinations, and I have. The result were these little gems.

I have a few myself, and I find they go with just about anything in my closet. My favorite, though, is wearing them with an outfit of all greys and blacks.

Basically, I started by getting some pre-cut wooden disks and squares. I did an abstract design and filled in with whatever color struck my fancy. Then I carefully outlined the colors in black so they would pop just a little more and painted the back black as well. The pendants were then coated in a high gloss varnish for shine and so they have a crisp, polished look.

I made the clasps as well, because I couldn't find any that I thought looked good. Basically they are made from black paper wrapped several times around a small straw and glued in place. They are then coated in a high gloss varnish as well.

Some of the chains were hand strung with seed beads, while others are on a cool black snake chain that I found. They are a blast to make and also to wear. Check out my Etsy store for more necklaces and detailed pics.

Prints Up

After spending a bunch of time in Photoshop and various websites that require me to upload, describe, edit, etc... I have stuff on line. Well, I've been slowing getting stuff up little by little, but I just completed the last thing on my list. Namely, you are now able to purchase prints and cards of some of the acrylics. Yeah! Now everything is officially set up and, theoretically, I just need to upload images of projects as I complete them. I hope to keep everything up to date and post items as they become available. So, enjoy looking and keep checking back for new items.

Many items are shown on the website, which is really the base of it all and a place to see the variety of projects I've worked on. Then there is Etsy, which is a place to purchase the items on the website. Finally, there is Fine Art America, which allows me to sell prints and cards of some of the works. I can do that on Etsy too, but FAA does it directly for me. I think that about does it. Boy oh boy, my mousing arm is aching.

Now it's time to go back out to the studio and start creating again. Hope to post pics of the three big paintings I'm currently working on soon.

To draw or not to draw? That is the question.

Went to a live model drawing session today. Oy. It's really hard and I am just not a drawer. I would like to be... I think? It just seems so beyond my ability to grasp it. The amount of work it would take seems overwhelming. Partially because I vacillate between being really into it and being utterly frustrated and bored. And these two things can toggle between each other almost instantaneously. I find it maddening. I can't decide if that means its something I should really put some effort in to learning, or if it means I should just not even bother?

Back At It

Well after a long, long hiatus, I'm back at this thing. I been very busy actually doing creative things, but not very busy putting it out there in the world. So here's just a little post to officially announce that I'm back. Photos and links soon to follow. Yay, it is exiting poking my head out of my studio to see what's out there again. I can't wait.
